Hotel Calypso, Marsalforn, Gozo

 

The recently renovated 4 star Hotel Calypso looks out onto the picturesque fishing harbour of Marsalforn.  The hotel is located next to the harbour, with a small sand and shingle beach on its doorstep.  Marsalforn itself is located on the north of the island and is Gozo's liveliest resort.  Outside the summer months however, the resort is much quieter

The four star Hotel Calypso is the largest hotel in Marsalforn, with 100 hundred rooms located over four floors of the six storey building.  The decor is distinctly modern, and the hotel has an excellent range of facilities.  These include a choice of restaurants, a tennis and squash court sand a roof top pool and sun deck.

There is free parking across the road from the Hotel Calypso and Marsalforn car park is within easy walking distance and is also free.

Hotel Calypso Accommodation

The Hotel Calypso's rooms are all air conditioned and also have a ceiling fan.  Each comes with its own balcony or terrace which looks out onto the Mediterranean sea, Marsalforn Bay or Xaghra Hill. They come equipped with a television, radio, minibar and safety deposit box (at extra charge).  The en suite bathrooms have a bath with shower above.

The Calypso Hotel can provide tea and coffee making facilities and iron and ironing board on request.

Hotel Calypso Restaurants and Bars

The Hotel Calypso's main restaurant is the La Perla.  This is situated on the first floor and looks out onto the Marsalforn Bay and to the Mediterranean beyond.  This provides guests with a hot buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The cuisine is a tempting variety of local and international dishes.  The La Perla Restaurant's Sunday Buffet is particularly popular with both guests and locals.

For a la carte dining, try the Luce D'Oro.  This is situated on the rooftop and has panoramic views across Marsalforn Bay and beyond.

Arlecchino Restaurant is on the ground floor and specializes in pastas, grills and pizzas.

The Dragon Restaurant was the first Chinese restaurant on Gozo and provides tasty Oriental dishes.

The Caffino is as its name suggests serves excellent coffee.  Also, for those who would like to indulge their sweet  tooth, there is a range of delicious pastries for sale.  The Caffino is situated on the ground floor, with both indoor and outdoor seating.

The Sunset Bar is located on top of the Hotel Calypso so that guests can appreciate the view.  As well as offering a range of premium wines, spirits and beers, the bar serves a range of snacks, popular with guests by the poolside.

Hotel Calypso Facilities

A pool and sundeck are always popular with guests, particularly so if as in the Hotel Calypso, it comes with a spectacular view.  Unlike a lot of hotels, free towels are provided. 

The Calypso Hotel's Sports Club offers two floodlit clay tennis courts and two squash courts.  These can be booked in the reception.

The Calypso Diving Centre and Dive Shop is a BSAC and PADI school, and is located opposite to the Calypso Hotel's main entrance.  They can cater for both beginners or experienced divers.  Reservations can be made in the Calypso Diving Centre or the hotel reception.

Wifi is available in all the rooms and there is internet access in the hotel foyer at a charge.

The Calypso Hotel has a 24 hour reception.  They can organise almost anything for you from excursions to laundry to providing board games and playing cards.
